Abstracts

The study aims at developing the base for a development partnership between GIZ and Agua Vumba and is composed of a number of technical proposals designed to control and in some cases improve current problems in Serra Vumba. The study includes a non-systematic collection of data and information on demography, geography, economic activities and biodiversity in the vicinity of the granting of Agua Vumba Company. Based on the analysis of the problems, the proposals were elaborated in the aim of reducing and/or mitigating the negative effects on biodiversity in order to maintain or improve the quality and quantity of water from the Serra Vumba.

The objective of the partnership will be to implement a sustainable initiative that refrains the communities surrounding the Agua Vumba concession from activities such as cutting fire wood, uncontrolled fires for hunting and agriculture as well as unsustainable charcoal production. To achieve the partnership goal, Perene Consulting was invited by GIZ to provide viable proposals for a partnership with Agua Vumba. The proposals shall focus on creating socio-economic benefits and awareness about forest management by surrounding communities.
